Rules for cycling

Everyone who joins the Marina Milers is expected to have read, understood and agreed to the following, which are designed to ensure safety and enjoyment:

  1. You are responsible for your own safety at all times.  You must ensure that you are physically fit enough to cycle on the rides.
  2. All riders must wear suitable cycle helmets and wear appropriate and high visibility cycling clothes.  Headphones must not be worn.
  3. You should carry with you a spare inner tube, a puncture repair kit and the tools and knowledge to make on-the-road repairs.
  4. You are responsible for the safety and road-worthiness of your bicycle.
  5. You should always abide by the Highway Code.  Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  6. You should carry an ICE (In Case of Emergency) card (or equivalent) which includes relevant contact and medical details.
  7. Navigators will be appointed for each ride.  They are volunteers whose role is to guide the tour.  Please respect them, follow their hand signals and remain behind them at all times.
  8. Each ride will have a back-marker with a whistle who monitors the cyclists ahead for personal and mechanical difficulties.  One blast on the whistle is an instruction for all cyclists in the group to stop: two blasts indicate that cyclists should start.
  9. We have a 'No Drop Policy' and will wait for the slowest rider or anyone in difficulties.
  10. It is your responsibility to check regularly WhatsApp and this site for the latest information.

Yous should also read the club statement on Emergency Contact Details.
